Traveling to Texas to visit Grandma

This past week our daughter and my husband flew to Texas to see my mother-in-law, who is turning 90 years old, God bless her. Our daughter Jenee was very excited to fly on an airplane for the first time in her life. They took off from the Reno Airport and got to land in Los Angeles, El Paso and Love Field in Dallas. I received a telephone call from Jenee, she was very excited, not about the flight but, about her role she played in the plane trip. She was chosen to stand up in front of the group of passengers and explain to them where the emergency exits were and how the oxygen masks would fall down, in case of an emergency, and so on. Then she told me all about the beautiful light blue rental car they got that was "soooo" clean. What, I don't clean my car enough?

Anyway, then she went cat fishing with Grandma and she caught one, but Grandma got sick and had to go to the emergency room. So they have spent half their vacation at the hospital. Man, I hate it when you go see your relative and they get sick. Jenee told me on the phone not to worry, she'd take good care of Grandma.

This is the first time Jenee has been away from me for more than one night and I have been very much missing her. My mission while they are gone is to pull everything out of her bedroom. I painted the walls light pink and the ceiling white. I installed a new ceiling fan, I painted and hung black base boards and I've been making a black shelf to go around the three walls at about window height. I am planning on making a headboard for her bed with black velvet with some foam and buttons or jewels pulled through. I don't think I'll have it done before they arrive home on Tuesday, but, I am working hard to try and have it ready.

I had planned to have a pedicure done while they were gone, it is something I have never had done before, but I have no time for now. I also had planned to go to the hot springs with my mother - didn't happen. I did manage to get in two mornings of fishing with my father. We got skunked the first day, but the next day Dad caught two beautiful fish. I only got a couple of hits. By the way, last week I caught two wonderful trout on a rapala. I've never caught a fish on a rapala before and that's with 12-15 years fishing at Lake Topaz. How cool is that?

It is pretty strange to have a week without your family around. I haven't had to cook, or clean, but I have had to water with these warm temperatures. Have a good one.
