Tickets are now on sale for a 93-inch by 93-inch "Snow Flower Quilt" by the Carson Valley Sertoma Club.

The quilt was made by members Audrey Nelson and Bobbie Cropper with quilting by Julie Thomas. The material and quilting costs were donated by Audrey Nelson to Sertoma as a fundraiser and has a collectible value of $500.

The tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available from any member of Sertoma. The drawing will be held at the annual Oktoberfest celebration held at Heritage Park on Sept. 23 and it is not necessary to be present to win. For more information on the quilt and raffle, call Bobbie Cropper at 265-3427.

The Carson Valley Sertoma Club is a community service organization which donates all the funds raised at their events back to the community. The club has been helping sports teams, high school students with book scholarships, donating to China Spring and Aurora Pines youth camps, Austin's House, City of Refuge and other community causes. The main premise of Sertoma is speech and hearing and the group has provided screening and hearing aids to those who might otherwise not have been able to obtain them. In addition, our affiliate Brain Power has been the recipient of two grants from Sertoma International. The club has been in existence since November 1978, when a few men who thought there was a need in the community, joined together to fill that need.

For more information about Sertoma contact either Cindy Peterson, membership chairperson at 782-6349 or Richard Cropper, president at 265-3427. Guests are invited to the weekly early morning meeting at Sharkey's Casino, Fridays at 6:30 a.m.
