Are you able to slice fruit and bagels? How are your crowd-control skills? Can you pass out bottles of water and T-shirts? Do you like ice cream?
People of many talents are needed to volunteer in the 5K and 10K Minden Run4Fun, June 24. The event needs volunteers of all ages and experience levels. Volunteers will receive an event T-shirt and an invitation to the post-race party with a barbecue, live music and ice cream.
-- Course Monitors: Assist in keeping the course clear of traffic. Provide alternate routes, keep road block signs intact until the area captain advises the section of the course is closed.
-- Water Aid Stations: Help set up aid stations, pass out water to participants, reload trucks after aid station closes on the course. Help with cleanup at assigned aid station before leaving.
-- Chip Clippers: Volunteers with manual dexterity needed to remove Velcro timing chips from participants.
-- Food and Beverage Area: Set up food and beverages and distribute to participants. Adults assist slicing fruit and bagels.
-- Start/Finish Line Area: Early shifts help with set-up. Late shifts help with cleanup at end of event. All shifts help direct runners and walkers to their finish line chutes.
-- Crowd Control: Direct participants to correct finish line areas, keep crowds out of the running areas.
-- Post Race Party/Awards Distribution: Greet runners, walkers and other attending guests. Help setting up tables, serving beverages and assist with cleanup.
-- Registration/check-in/ packet pickup: Hand out packets and T-shirts to registrants. Direct flow of traffic to entrances and exits.
