Patricia Davison
1925-2007
A memorial service was Tuesday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church for Patricia Davison, 82, who died May 25, 2007 at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center on her birthday.
Mrs. Davison was born May 25, 1925, in Seattle, Wash., the daughter of William and Agnes (Lovejoy) Shannon.
Her father was a construction engineer and the family's early years were spent at various hydroelectric projects throughout the West Coast and the Pacific Northwest. She graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle.
She attended the University of Washington and graduated from George Washington University.
She married Dixon Rice, a navy pilot, during World War II in 1945.
She joined him at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands where their first child was born. She lived at Annapolis, Md., Columbus, Ohio, and Fairfax, Va.
They moved to Mercer Island where they divorced in 1963. She later married Jim Weatherford, a widowed Seattle funeral director, adopted his infant son Marty and moved to Kalispell, Mont., they opened a funeral home in the early 1970s.
The marriage ended in divorce and she kept the funeral home for another decade.
She married Marcus Nichols in 1982 who died of cancer in 2000. She married Bill Davison a year later.
She was active in Eastern Star, GOP organizations, Alpha Phi Sorority, hospital volunteer and many civic or charitable groups.
She loved music and was active in church choir and as a soloist on many occasions. She enjoyed bridge, reading, solving puzzles and being surrounded by her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William D. Shannon of Seattle and sister Mary George of Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by her husband Bill Davison of Gardnerville; son Dixon and his wife Mitzi Rice of Kalispell, Mont.; daughter Robin and her husband Dave Nelson of Redmond, Wash.; son Andy and his wife Janice Rice of Minden; son Lauren and his wife Brenda Rice of San Diego; son Marty and his wife Nona Weatherford and son Scott Weatherford of Redmond, Wash.; as well as numerous grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith in Carson City. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice in the name of Patricia Davison.
