A slight chance of thunderstorms combined with a 100 percent chance of ignition could make for a bad combination for residents. If you live in the wild lands, make sure firefighters have got plenty of room to make a stand should there be a conflagration. I hear there were thundershowers in Hope Valley on Tuesday, so keep an eye on the mountains for smoke. It's not unheard of to have a lightning strike turn into a fire over the course of a couple of days. Most of all, be careful with fire.
They'll be getting ready for the big fishing derby at Lampe Park this weekend. There's a meeting tonight for customers of the Sheridan Acres water system. The session will be 6 p.m. at the Sheridan Acres Volunteer Fire Department. The water system is operated by the county and serves 92 homes. The county opened a new well and treatment facility in September of last year.
The weather today will be mostly sunny and warm, with the National Weather Service predicting a high of 86 in Minden. Since that's what they said yesterday and we hit 91 in town, I wager we'll clear the 90s by the time the day is over.
