Staff Reports

Five people were injured in a traffic accident on Kingsbury Grade on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred 9:30 a.m. after a 1987 Subaru driven by Ricardo Sanchez, 70, of South Lake Tahoe coming down Kingsbury struck the rock wall on the west side.

Sanchez was treated and released at Barton Hospital. Three of his passengers were taken to Carson Valley Medical Center and one passenger was helicoptered to Reno for treatment. A spokeswoman for the Nevada Highway Patrol said none of the injuries appeared life threatening.

As a result of the accident, Kingsbury Grade was closed for a short time. Sanchez was cited for failure to exercise due care.

A single vehicle accident closed the northbound lanes of Highway 395 at Johnson Lane early on May 24 after a Carson City man allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.

Jose Moreno, 19, was southbound on Highway 395 when his vehicle crossed the highway's median and ended up on its roof in the northbound lane.

Moreno received minor injuries in the accident and was cited for failure to stay in his travel lane.
