A fire continues to burn in a drainage area above Easy Lane and Palisades along Highway 207 Kingsbury Grade. Structures are not immediately threatened, Douglas County officials confirmed at 1:10 p.m.
The fire has grown to about 1 acre in size. Fire engines from throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin have been dispatched the the area. A helicopter has also been dispatched, dropping at least six buckets of water on the fire, according to Tahoe Daily Tribune photographer Jim Grant who is at the scene.
The fire is growing a fast clip away from homes, which is good news. It is burning up a or drainage area said Dick Mirgon, director of communications for Douglas County.
A power line that snapped may be the cause of the fire, which has not been confirmed. Grant said the snapped line, which is about 15 feet from the ground, appears to have created an arc, which may have cause sparks to fly.
The fire is burning uphill and away from homes. The Kingsbury Grade neighborhood has approximately 20 to 30 homes. Fire officials say they have got a circle around the fire and have made progress. The fire was called into dispatch at 11:52 p.m.
