East Fork career and volunteer firefighters have returned from battling the Southern California fires. An East Fork fire engine and a brush truck along with seven firefighters traveled to Southern California on Oct. 21 along with several other units from Western Nevada. East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts Chief Tod Carlini said everyone came home safe.
Commissioners heard a request from Lyla Lane property owner Jerry Vaccaro and builder Al Shankle to be included in the redevelopment district on Thursday evening. Vaccaro said he's proposing a 12-story hotel under his new company the Beverly Hills Hotels & Condominiums. He said he is seeking the same amount of redevelopment money received by the Riverwood Development.
Tonight the Tigers tackle the Reed Raiders in the first round of the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Association playoffs. Reed is a tough team, who defeated the Tigers in August 38-15. Kickoff is 7 p.m. We'll post an update at halftime and will have the final score tonight.
Weather's going to be more of the same, according to the National Weather Service with highs in the 60s and lows in the 20s. As of 6:50 a.m. it is 27 degrees in Genoa and Minden.
That scattered dark will be lifted a tad on Sunday when we get to set our clocks back to standard time. The weekend will be an hour shorter, but sometimes that's a good thing.
