City National Bank, which has a branch in Minden, recently donated $1,000 to Austin's House, the nonprofit group foster home in Carson Valley that provides care for children who are out of their home due to a family issue.

"We are very excited to get involved with Austin's House and help provide children in crisis with a caring and nurturing environment that every child wants and deserves," said City National Bank regional manager and senior vice president Jerry Gregory.

Executive director of Austin's house Pam Wise lauded the bank's donation.

"We depend on community partners like City National Bank to help us raise the more than $500,000 a year it takes to operate this housing facility. Austin's House fills a void in services to children in need in Douglas County, and based on community needs we will strive to incorporate more services to children and families as we grow."

Besides the donation, Pam Pugliese, manager of the bank's branch in Minden, is being considered for a position on the board of directors for Austin's House.

"We're also very proud to have one of our own get directly involved in this organization," said Gregory. "Volunteering her time and services to help make a difference in the lives of those children living in the facility."
