A former Douglas County woman was killed early Thanksgiving morning while walking on Interstate 5 in Southern California.
Candice Beam 26, was struck by a car after getting out of the vehicle she was riding in, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Beam is the daughter of Minden residents Michael and Deborah Beam.
A 2000 Douglas High School graduate, Beam was named Homecoming Queen in 1999.
A service for her is scheduled for Dec. 15 at Hilltop Community Church.
