The Douglas girls' basketball team broke out with a 15-2 run in the first quarter of their season-opener Thursday afternoon against defending 2A state champion Battle Mountain and cruised to a 47-25 win at the Lowry Invitational in Winnemucca.
Jessica Waggoner scored 15 points and Bridget Maestretti added eight to lead the Tigers as Douglas dropped in 23 field goals as a team.
Jessica Gorton scored six and Danyelle Heidt added four for the Lady Tigers (1-0).
