David Winton
'Doc' Ritter
1942-2007
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Inn, for David Winton "Doc" Ritter, 64, who died Sept. 15, 2007, at his home.
He was born Dec. 6, 1942, in Los Angeles to Lee Hawkins and Dorothy Dunn Ritter. He grew up in Southern California and graduated from South Gate High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army where he served four years with time spent in Europe. Mr. Ritter returned to California and worked for General Inspection Labs. He moved to the Lake Tahoe area in 1968 where he worked as a craps dealer and pit boss until retiring in 2005.
Mr. Ritter enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and riding his motorcycles. He was an avid reader, a master at crossword puzzles and a sports enthusiast. To all who knew him well, "this is DWR, over and out."
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his twin brother Lonny Ritter, son Jeffery and daughter-in-law Mary Ritter, daughter Jill and son-in-law Tim Vugteveen, grandchildren Lucas and Jaden Vugteveen as well as his four-legged companion Brandy.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.
Manfred Mueller
1940 - 2007
A memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday for Manfred Mueller, 67, a 30-year resident of Carson Valley. Mr. Mueller died Oct. 1, 2007, after a two-month battle with lymphoma. A 10 a.m. viewing will precede the service at the Autumn Funeral Home, 1575 N. Lompa Lane, in Carson City.
Born in Germany, he called Carson Valley home for more than 30 years. He was employed at Bently Nevada Corp. until his retirement four years ago. He had a love for nature, the outdoors, traveling and had a special place in his heart for animals.
He is survived by his wife Ana Raquel Mueller; daughter Christine Marie Evanchik; son-in-law Gary Jon Evanchik; step-daugter and husband Kirk and Debbie Ledbetter; stepgrandchildren Kristopher and Brandianne Ledbetter; stepdaughter Kimberly Brambach and son Perry, and his cat Samantha.
Family members remembered him as a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed.
"Dad I will always love you," daughter Christine Marie Evanchik said.

Thomas Tyler Young
1928-2007
A memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday for Douglas County High School graduate Thomas Tyler Young, 79, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1837 Mountain St., in Carson City. Mr. Young died Oct. 1, 2007. His wife, Louise, and family at his bed side.
Born Jan. 22, 1928, in Bay City, Mich., Mr. Young moved to Nevada in 1944. He graduated from Douglas County High School and continued his education at Cal Poly/San Luis Obispo, Calif.
On June 26, 1949, he married Louise Marie Dreyer and they made their home in Carson City. Mr. Young was a charter member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was a volunteer firefighter with Warren Engine Co. No. 1 in 1954. An active member of the Sagebrush and Mountain Quail chapters of the Model "A" Ford Club of America and the Sagebrush Studebaker Club, he volunteered for the city as the parking enforcement judge.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Edwina, his brother Peter, and his sister Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; his two sons and their wives, Fred and Dorothy and Edward and Lori of Jacks Valley; his grandchildren Susan, Adam, Lisa and Christine; great-granddaughter Elizabeth; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation's be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School. The family will hold a private internment at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City.
