After leaving the gym Thursday morning, Rob Resnik stopped by The Bank Parlor and Pub in downtown Minden for some eggs and coffee. What he found was an empty building.

On the door was a sign stating that the building's locks had been changed and that The Bank was no longer in business.

The notice warned that anyone trying to enter the building would be arrested.

"It's a shame. This is a historic section, and it's all falling apart," said Marlisa Hartmann, another customer hanging out in front of the store.

Hartmann said she was friends with the owner of The Bank, Cheryl Bohler.

"We were here at the very end when she packed the last things. She was choked up," said Hartmann.

Bohler was not the owner of the building where she operated The Bank for six years.

"Our revenue went down 35-40 percent," said Bohler in a telephone interview. "The economy's bad, and people aren't spending."

Bohler said both she and her husband had been fighting health problems.

"Medical bills destroyed us," she said. "I did the best I could. It's time to move on and get well."
