Volleyball: Douglas sweeps Wooster

The Douglas High Volleyball team rebounded from its loss to Reno earlier in the week with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-10 win over Wooster in Minden Tuesday.


Cousins Bridget Maestretti and Allie Hughes each had a big match as Maestretti led the team with eight blocks while Hughes had seven.


Maestretti also had five kills, 11 service points, two aces and three digs and Hughes had two kills, one ace and a dig.


Jourdan Burke led the attack with 14 kills and five blocks and also led the defense with nine digs, while Taryn Williams and Melissa Brown each had five kills.


Brown added six blocks and seven service points.


Megan Mitchell dished out 32 assists and had six blocks and one kill.


Mysta Townsell had eight digs, Mary Lombino had five digs and Christine DuPuis had four digs, three kills and three service points.


Douglas improved to 25-4 overall on the year and 7-1 in league play and got a gift as Carson topped league-leading Reno Thursday night, leaving the race for the league title wide open as the second-half of the season begins next week.
