The Douglas High junior varsity football team improved to 5-0 on the year with a 41-12 victory over Damonte Ranch Friday night.

Nicoli Vasquez hit field goals from 35 and 39 yards for the Tigers and Luis Pina ran for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Johnny Pollack had another solid game with more than 100 yards on the ground and a touchdown.

Lucas Peterson threw for 65 yards and a touchdown and ran another one in.

On defense, Connor Dillon and Danny King each had an interception.

The Tigers take on North Valleys Thursday night at 7:30 at Keith "Duke" Roman Field.

Douglas toppled Damonte Ranch 48-0 after leading 35-0 at halftime.

The Tigers scored on their first play from scrimmage as Colton Hughes took a toss 80 yards for a touchdown.

Ryan Ake also ran the ball well behind a dominating performance from the line, led by Patrick Miller and August Greth. Jake Fowler also had a big game in his first start on the line.

The Tiger defense caused six turnovers as Kameron VanWinkel, Spencer Fellows and Hughes each had three interceptions.

Tanner Egan, Riley Griffith, Scott Rudnick and Shane Connolly each had strong defensive games as well.

Austin Neddenreip was credited with leading the offense and coming up with a number of big punts for the Tigers.

Douglas improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in league play with the win.

The Douglas Tigers junior varsity girls' soccer team faced the South Lake Tahoe Vikings last week on a snow covered field Saturday morning.

Despite several hard earned shots on goal by Kyra Berth, Amanda Ferraro, Tamara Snight and Nicole Duster, Douglas couldn't manage any points on the board.

The Tiger defense fought the Vikings, and the slippery snow, and goalie Aleassa Anzelone came up with a big save, but the Vikings prevailed by the final score of 3-0.

Douglas then faced rival Carson on Tuesday and the Senators scored in the twentieth minute with a lob over the Tiger goalie's head.

The remainder of the game was scoreless even though Douglas dominated the field with the defenders successfully keeping the ball up the field. The offense maintained the attack with numerous shots on goal, including two close calls by defender Sarah Owens, but Carson held for the 1-0 win.

Douglas dropped to 8-3 overall with the losses.
