Douglas County commissioners will discuss the second reading of an ordinance altering the zoning on 23 acres from general commercial to tourist commercial, which will pave the way for Max Baer to build his "Beverly Hillbillies" casino in northern Douglas County. Commissioners will start early, at 10:30 a.m. Also on the agenda is the second reading of the ordinance creating Georgetown, a neighboring development. Big George is suing the county over its approval of the casino. An appeal of commissioners' approval of the casino is before the county today as well. All that action takes place after lunch.

Soar Minden is appealing a 21-day suspension of business at Minden-Tahoe Airport ordered by Airport Manager Jim Braswell after an employee drove a fuel truck whose brakes were out. Soar Minden backers say the business was already punished while those backing Braswell say violating the airport's safety requires further sanctions.

Today should be nice with mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 65 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It will cloud up a bit tonight with a slight chance of showers on Friday and a cooler high temperature.
