It's been 15 years, but the Coleville High School football team is going to the playoffs.

The Wolves clinched a spot with a 30-18 victory over Eureka Saturday and are within one win of clinching both the league title and a home playoff game.

Quarterback Jason Peters hit flanker Dylan Hudson for a 32-yard touchdown pass on the Wolves' first drive. He later hit Colton Ward for a four-yard score and Hudson again for a seven-yard touchdown in the first quarter.

Peters went down on a late hit at the end of the quarter and went to the hospital with a concussion. He left the game with 119 yards passing and three touchdowns.

The Wolves took advantage of the penalty and scored two plays later with Hudson stepping in to throw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Trevor Anderson.

That gave Coleville a 30-0 lead in the second quarter, but Eureka scored 18 points in the second quarter to pull within two touchdowns by halftime.

Defensively, the Wolves took control of the game in the second half, forcing five turnovers and keeping Eureka from crossing midfield.

"Coach Cody Waite, our defensive coordinator, and our defense deserve 100 percent of the credit for this victory," Coleville coach Will Sandy said. "I couldn't be more proud of the way the boys responded to adversity.

"Not only did the defense have to salvage the victory with their best effort of the season, all of the players had to keep their composure in a game that featured the most personal fouls by an opposing team I've seen in a long time."

Sean Sherlock led the defense with two solo tackles and 11 assists, Trevor Anderson had five solos and 10 assists and Carlos Hernandez had three solos and eight assists.

Emmi Sandoval, Marco Barajas and Hudson each had outstanding games on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Coleville wraps up its home season Saturday with a 1 p.m. game against McDermitt.

Coleville picked up a win against Excel Christian 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 last week.

Kymberlee Curti led the Wolves with eight kills and an ace. Amara Rowley had six aces, one kills and 19 assists. Skyler Isbell had three blocks and three kills, Molly Garcia had five kills and Julie Zamaripa had five aces.

Kim Torley had three kills and one ace and Tawny Booher had two aces and one kill.
