The Carson Valley Community Food Closet has been busy receiving and distributing food to the community during the month of September. Thanks for the generous donations and the volunteers who give their time to help stock and pack groceries for recipients.
The following contributions were received (in pounds): St. Gall Catholic Church (303), Russell's Mercantile (87), Michael Smith (191), Sweet Images (25), Boodler's Bar & Grub Shack (52), farmers market (928), Unity Church of Today (108), James Bobula (12), Carson Valley United Methodist Church (52). Regular grocery contributors: Scolari's, Raley's, Smith's, Starbucks, Trader Joe's, Costco and Pony Espresso. Also, special thanks to all the individuals who donated vegetables from home gardens and Jackson Drywall for their wood scraps.
Cash donations received: Jay and Jolaine Johnson, Burl and Rosemarie Middendorf, Johnny and Mary Faurin, L.F. The food closet is in need of the following items to round out their shelves: spaghetti sauce, laundry soap, paper towels, shampoo, personal toiletries and pet food. Check your pantry for extra items and drop off a bag at the food closet at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Business hours are 1-4 p.m. Monday Ð Wednesday and Friday.
