The Douglas County Sheriff's Explorer Post No. 2105, walked away with three awards at the 2007 Central Coast Police Explorer Competition.

More than 500 police explorers from all over California, Nevada and Arizona competed in the three day event in Paso Robles, Calif.

Nine Douglas explorers competed by participating in traffic stops, domestic violence calls, building searches, suspicious person calls and many more police-related activities. There were also team-building events such as tug-a-war, relay races and obstacle courses.

Douglas came away with two trophies, one for the team obstacle course and the other for a night time suspicious circumstances call.

Douglas also had Douglas High School senior Tracy Baker submit an application for the scholarship awards being provided by the competition.

Tracy made the top 10 finalist, then sat in front of an oral interview panel where she was chosen third out of 10 and she received a $1,000 scholarship top award towards her college future.

The explorer post teaches students between the ages of 14-21 law enforcement.
