It must be pretty slick over the passes, because CalTrans is requiring chains and snow tires across both highways 88 and 50 this morning. There's a wind advisory across Washoe Valley, but otherwise the roads are clear this morning.
On Tuesday night, members of the Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District met to reconsider their lack of support of an ordinance requiring residents who let bears in their garbage twice in two years get a bear-proof trash can. The results of that meeting will be reported later today. On Thursday the county has the ordinance on the agenda, along with related matters.
The National Weather Service won their bet about Tuesday night on the west side of Carson Valley. There was a pretty good downpour around 6 p.m. It doesn't appear as though the rest of the Valley benefited much. Weather stations in the Gardnerville Ranchos and Fish Springs didn't report any moisture. There's a slight chance of isolated showers this morning. It will be breezy with gusts of up to 25 mph.
