Today the Witch fire in San Diego County is the big one with 197,990 acres burning. According to the latest update, the fire is about 20 percent contained. As of 6:55 a.m., 805 homes have been destroyed and another 375 damaged. About 5,000 homes are threatened by the fire. According to the Inciweb Incident Information System, firefighters are battling a dozen blazes which are burning 511,305 acres.
If you've any business to conduct with the towns, the county or the state, you'd better take care of it today, because they're all closed on Friday for Nevada Day. The good news is you'll get your mail and most banks don't recognize the holiday.
The parade starts 10 a.m. Saturday in Carson City. A word of advice if you're going to the parade, park a car someplace close on Friday night.
It is supposed to be sunny and warm today with a high temperature of 76. The high temperature will drop on Friday back into the 60s and stay in the 60s until Sunday when it warms back up. Besides that it looks like we're getting some of the warm fall weather that's usually happening in September.
