Meeting week kicks off with the Gardnerville Town Board at 4:30 p.m. today at the town's meeting offices. The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Board will meet 6 p.m. at the Douglas County Senior Center. They'll be talking about a cost share agreement for maintenance at the Dresslerville Pit and the acceptance of Sheridan Acres Park, including a naming recommendation. At 7 p.m. Genoans meet for the last time before Candy Dance. They'll be working on a job description for the town manager. The contract between Genoa and the county is on county commissioners' agenda for Thursday.

While the smoke in the Valley is coming from California, East Fork firefighters were called out this morning for an incident near Jack Wright Pass. Topaz firefighters were turned around at about 7 a.m. Firefighters are responding to Del Rio Lane for a smoke investigation at 7:24 p.m.

With the low temperature bouncing up from 71 degrees, today's weather is bound to be odd. The National Weather Service issued three bulletins this morning, one for the smoke that is coming from a fire near San Jose, one for wind gusts of 35-40 mph expected to cause problems for travelers and a red flag warning starting at 11 a.m.
