A suspect in the stabbing death of Incline Village resident Judy Calder is in custody in a Mexico City jail, police said Tuesday.

Sparks Police Commander Steve Asher received a call at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday that a man called Ricky Barge had been arrested on a provisional warrant by Mexican officials.

A pile of rubble marks the corner of Tahoe Boulevard and Country Club Drive, but in more than a year it could be resurrected as a new home for the North Tahoe Community Church. Construction began Friday on the church's new home when the old 5,700-square-foot building was demolished to make way for a new building almost three times as large.

Initial information from an update to a California study of radon gas in homes in the Sierra Nevada, completed last month, has found more than half of the residences at the South Shore may contain unacceptable levels of the radioactive carcinogen. The update is part of an effort by the California Department of Health Services to determine the prevalence of radon throughout the mountain range and includes new data from surveys in El Dorado, Nevada and Placer counties.
