The Family Support Council offers classes in parenting and support for families with infants to teens. There are support groups for grandparents raising children and victims of domestic violence.
Weekly parenting classes begin in October for children to 5 years, for children 13-18, and for children 6-12.
No charge for ongoing Family to Family classes. There is a $10 fee for materials for parenting classes. Free on-site baby-sitting available. Register early, classes fill up fast.

The Family Support Council holds weekly workshops on Monday evenings. The next workshop is Victims Educating Drug Offenders, 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at the council office, 1255 Waterloo. Other workshop topics are the Importance of Reading with Your Child, Parenting Through Divorce, Holiday Budgeting and Dealing with Family Stress. Workshops include toddler time, afternoon of art, potty training, making baby food, child safety, infant CPR and first aid, music and motion. -- Family to Family Connection provides information, parent/child workshops and support to families with infants up to 4 years.
-- G.A.P. - Grandparents and others parenting grandchildren or nieces and nephews. Classes held 10-11:30 a.m. the last Friday of the month. Families come together for support and referrals. All classes provide free baby-sitting.
-- Women's Support Group
6-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The group addresses needs of victims of domestic violence and issues women would like to discuss. Drop-ins welcome. Information, Orita Keebaugh, Shannon Harris or Cindy Fanning at 782-8692.
