Tickets are on sale for the Douglas County Historical Society's performance of "The Curse of the Hanging Tree" at $15 per person at the Genoa Court House Museum and the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville.


Tickets by be purchased by sending a check or money order to the Douglas County Historical Society, 1477 Highway 395, Suite B., Gardnerville, NV 89410. Indicate date and time of the performance you desire.


Performances are 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday Sept. 21 and 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 22. Information, 782-2555.




Concerts on the Green in Genoa


The group 5 Alarm plays the final concert in the town of Genoa's free Concerts on the Green series, Sunday in Genoa Park. 5 Alarm plays both popular and blues music.


Concert 4-6 p.m. Bring a picnic. Beer, wine and bottled water will be available for sale. Information, 782-8696.




'Steel Magnolias' tickets on sale


Tickets are on sale for the Carson Valley Community Theatre's production of "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling.


Cost is $15 for general admission with senior, student and group (eight or more) tickets for $12.


Evening performances and Sunday matinees are Oct. 19-21 and 26-28 at the CVIC Hall in Minden.


Tickets are available at The Record-Courier, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville, and at The Bank Parlor & Pub, 1596 Esmeralda Ave., Minden. Dinner show packages are available for $45 at Barone & Reed Food Co., 1599 Esmeralda Ave.

Candy makers wanted in Genoa


Volunteers are needed to help make 4,000 pounds of Genoa's famous homemade candy for the 87th Annual Genoa Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Faire on Sept. 29 and 30.


No candy making experience is needed to help make fudge with and without nuts, divinity, dragon eyes, peanut butter cups, rocky road, Genoa gems, almond bark, almond joyfuls and haystacks in three colors.


Candy making continues 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evening sessions are 6 - 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Dinner and candy dancing tickets


on sale now


There are 500 tickets for the Genoa Candy Dance dinner dance on sale now until Sept. 21 at various Carson Valley locations.


The dinner dance, 6-10 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Orchard House in Genoa features a Tex-Mex buffet amd live music by Dealer's Choice band and Lolli Jones.


All tickets are sold in advance. Cost is $20 for adults, $12 for children age 12 and younger. Tickets are also available by mail.
