Searchers for Steve Fossett remain still hopeful he may be found alive.
Lyon County Undersheriff Joe Sanford said that while the desert is fairly barren, there are water sources available.
Bubblers set up by chukar hunters and small springs dot the mountains of Nevada.
"The springs are pretty dry, but in the best case, he could find water," Sanford said.
There was also a rainstorm the Friday before Fossett disappeared which could have left standing water in more protected areas.
On Tuesday, Maj. Cynthia Ryan said that if Fossett was in a canyon, his emergency landing transmitter's signal could bounce off the canyon walls.
Trooper Chuck Allen said searchers are continuing to follow up on leads received through people looking for Fossett through the Internet.
