Friends of the family of an 8-year-old Minden Elementary School student, who collapsed and died Saturday while practicing flag football, are coming together to help.

"Right now we're trying to give them whatever they need," said Douglas High Principal Marty Swisher.

Swisher said co-workers and friends are coming together to cook the family meals and help out any way they can. He said friends are planning to open a bank account to assist the family with their finances.

The boy, Britton Mattinson, was a student at the school where his mother Robyn Mattinson teaches. His father, Donovan Mattinson, teaches at Douglas High.

Anyone interested in helping out, can contact Dori Draper, Jeanne Turnbeaugh or Keith Cole, all at Douglas High School, 782-5136.
