An autopsy is scheduled for today to find out what happened when an 8-year-old Minden Elementary School student collapsed and died Saturday during flag football practice. Deputy Coroner Bernadette Smith said the boy collapsed at about 10:23 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m.
James Lamb Jr., 19, succumbed to the cancer late last week that had been attacking him for the last 21 months. It has been a month since James was named an honorary sheriff's deputy and members of the Tiger Block D Club, the football team and the cheerleading squad turned out to help him celebrate on Aug. 5.
It has been two full weeks since the search for aviator Steve Fossett began. Today, search officials are scheduled to take stock of the search and plot out their next move. Fossett was last seen flying along the Highway 395 corridor south of the Flying M Ranch in a borrowed aircraft on Labor Day.

Wind gusts will hit 30 mph. Wednesday will see a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service and a high near 67 degrees.
