Posters "Peace Around the World" are being accepted by the Carson Valley Lions Club from now until Oct. 31.
The 2007-2008 Lions Clubs International Peace Poster contest is sponsored by Lions Clubs around the world. Students who are 11, 12, or 13 years old, are invited to enter the Lions Clubs International annual 2007/2008 peace poster contest, "Peace Around the World."
Students whose birth dates fall from Nov. 16, 1993, through Nov. 15, 1996, are eligible to enter the contest.
The three winners will be invited to a Carson Valley Lions Club meeting and the first place winner will be awarded $50; second place $30 and third place $20.
The first place winner will be entered in the Lions Clubs International District 46 contest (basically the state of Nevada). The District 46 winner will be submitted to the Lions Clubs International to determine the Grand Prize winner as well as 23 merit award winners worldwide.
The International Grand Prize winner receives a trip to the award ceremony at Lions Day with the United Nations in New York City, a cash award of $2,500 and an engraved plaque.
Principals and teachers have been asked to select the best three posters from their school no later than 10 a.m. Oct. 31 and forward them to the Douglas County School District office to arrive no later than 5 p.m. Nov. 2.
