The Fleet Reserve Association is offering several opportunities for young people in the Carson Valley.
The FRA will offer an Americanism Essay Contest open to students, grades 7-12. Deadline for submission is Dec. 1. The theme for this year is "Why I Am Proud to be an American."

To further education the FRA supports America's future leaders by awarding more than $90,000 annually in scholarships. Awardees are selected based on financial need, academic standing, character and leadership qualities. FRA scholarships are awarded to FRA members, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Applications are available at fra.org/scholarships. Applications must be postmarked no later than April 15 to be considered for scholarships that are awarded in July.
