Volleyball: Tiger spikers roll against Hug

The Douglas High School volleyball team made short work of the Hug Hawks in Reno Thursday night, taking a 25-14, 25-14, 25-15 win.


Allie Hughes came up with one of her biggest matches of the season, posting 23 assists, two kills and four aces. Mary Lombino had 29 digs and an ace.


Taryn Williams had a monster match, recording nine kills, 13 digs and five aces and Melissa Brown continued her breakout play with seven blocks, four kills, four digs and an ace in the win.


Jourdan Burke and Alyssa Todd each had six kills, Christine DuPuis had five and Bridget Maestretti each had four.


Todd added four blocks and Megan Mitchell had eight assists, five digs and two kills.


Mysta Townsell had nine service points to lead the team and Jordan Marsh rounded out the balanced team performance with two digs.


Douglas improved to 24-3 overall and 6-0 in league play on the year and ran its win streak to eight matches.
