Golf Clinics

You can register for the following clinics through the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department. Stop by their office at 1327 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville to sign up or call them at 782-9828. Space is limited for both events.

On Saturday, April 19, Carson Valley Golf Course hosts An Introduction to Junior Golf. Kids ranging in age from 5-16 will learn all the basics of golf and clubs. Balls and snacks will be provided.

There are three sessions planned throughout the day: Session 1, for kids ages 5-6, will be held from noon-1:15 p.m. Session 2, for kids ages 7-8, runs from 1:30-2:45 p.m. The final session is designed from participants ages 9-16 and goes from 3-4:15 p.m. The cost for each session is $20.

A women's Start the Season clinic will be held the following Monday and Tuesday, April 21 and 22 from 5:15-6 p.m. Open to all levels of players including beginners, this fun and relaxed clinic covers everything from swings, chipping and putting to course etiquette. Cost is $30, which includes both evenings.

CVGC events for women and juniors

Please contact the golf course directly to sign up for the following activities: A Spring Social Event for the ladies is planned for Wednesday, April 16 from 5-6:30 p.m. Wine and snacks will be served and all who attend should bring their putter. There is no charge for this event, though the favor of an RSVP is requested.

The regular ladies clinics begin on Monday, April 28 at 5:15 p.m. They will be held each Monday evening throughout the season and emphasize learning the game of golf in a relaxed and friendly environment. Each clinic lasts about 45 minutes and costs $10. Weekly sign-ups are required and can be made by phone or e-mail.

A program for juniors starts on April 28 as well. Anyone age 5-16 is welcome to join, though it is preferred that participants have already completed an introductory clinic.

Juniors are grouped based upon age and experience, and will attend clinics once a week for approximately 50 minutes. Fundamentals of golf are emphasized throughout each session, and kids will enjoy lots of time out on the course.

The 6-week program costs $125, which includes the use of clubs, professional instruction, golf goodies and a junior golf celebration. Preregistration is required and space is limited.
