A report of a woman who was attacked by a man with a knife Thursday at the Carson campus of Western Nevada College has not been confirmed by authorities.

The report came from an e-mail, reportedly sent out by campus security, and faxed to the offices of The Record-Courier.

A woman reported being attacked by a man with a knife 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the lower parking lot of the Western Nevada College parking lot in Carson City.

Carson authorities say no one has reported the incident to them.

The woman fell to the ground and the assailant slashed at her again, cutting her arm.

The man is described as a white, in his 20s, about 6-feet tall with medium build, no facial hair or distinguishing marks. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a hood, dark pants and white shoes.

Anyone seeing someone matching the description is being asked to contact the college's public safety department at (775) 445-3308.
