Tahoe Youth and Family Services recently opened a drop in resource center for youth in the Gardnerville Ranchos to implement the alcohol and drug prevention curriculum, Project Alert through a grant from the Partnership of Community Resources.
The drop in resource center is a safe place where teens can access resources, have a place to rest, do homework, use computers, eat, get hygiene products and talk to someone.
The resource center helps youth obtain identification and birth certificates needed to obtain employment and housing. They provide socks and food to hungry teens.
The items listed below will enable TYFS staff to create an inviting place for youth with free access to a washer and dryer and brochures on available community resources.
Items needed include socks, shoes, basic office supplies, cleaning supplies, a folding table, living room chairs, office desks and chairs, wall-mounted business card holder and brochure rack, 650-square-foot carpet and a stackable washer and dryer.
Cash donations are also being accepted to put toward these items and direct services. Information, 782-4202 or (530) 541-2445.
