A new proposal on Jethro Bodine's Beverly Hillbillies Mansion & Casino oil derrick and readerboard that will greet southbound visitors to Douglas County along Highway 395 goes before the Douglas County Planning Commission at their regular meeting starting will be delayed today. Also on Planning Commissioners agenda is the C.O.D. Garage. Planning commissioners meet at the Douglas County administrative Building, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden.

The wording of a school bond to "finance the acquisition, construction, improvement and equipping of school facilities" goes before the Douglas County School Board at 5:15 p.m. today. The bond would maintain the district's present debt rate of 10 cents per $100 assessed valuation through Nov. 4, 2018. Should the tax rate be allowed to expire, the district would lose its portion of motor vehicle privilege taxes, which for some reason are distributed based on debt. School trustees meet starting 3:30 p.m. at Kingsbury Middle School. It will be the last time the board meets at the school before its closure at the end of the semester.

There's a slight chance we might see a flake of snow fall today over the 12 hours between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Expect kind of a nasty day with winds gusting to 30 mph, the high getting all the way to 50 and cloudy as well. Right now the temperature in Minden is a warmish 39 degrees.
