Paula Jackson and Jon Corley were married April 12, 1958, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, Wyo.

Jon Corley graduated from Montana State University, Bozeman, in 1961 with a degree in agricultural engineering and minor in civil engineering. He was involved with such projects as the Minuteman Missile in South Dakota during his 32 years employed with the Peter Kiewit Sons' company from Omaha.

Paula Corley helped put her husband through college and worked as an administrative assistant for a San Francisco area hazardous waste company. The couple moved to Gardnerville after retiring in 1987.

The Corleys have two daughters, a son, eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

The Corleys response to the success of 50 years of marriage is "a strong faith in God, good communications, being able to say 'I'm sorry' even if it wasn't your fault, holding hands when we fall asleep at night and the most important one is having your best friend as your partner."

The couple plans to renew their wedding vows Saturday at the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.
