A big cold front is rolling down through Western Nevada, but first we'll have another taste of spring today and Friday. The high temperature today will climb into the 70s, which is the top of the rollercoaster, then on Friday night the wind picks up and the front comes on in. The National Weather Service is calling for a 30 percent chance of snow or rain as a band of snow develops near the front. Forecasters are unsure how far south the band will dip.

Douglas County commissioners are meeting in the Tahoe Transportation Center at Stateline 1:30 p.m. today. The big ticket item today is an application for a condominium project at Jack Circle and Tramway Drive on Kingsbury. Developers are seeking a variance of the height requirement from 35 to 85 feet, elimination of RV parking stalls and off-street trails instead of sidewalks. The 40-unit project is on 15 acres of land.

The consolidation of the East Fork and Sierra Forest fire districts is before commissioners this afternoon. Putting the two districts together is a cost-saving measure that East Fork Chief Tod Carlini has been working on for some time.
