A high wind watch kicks off Saturday morning and will remain in effect as a strong cold front comes rushing in. Southwest winds of 45 mph are likely, with gusts of up to 60 mph in the foothills. Watch out for blowing dust. Behind the front, expect a temperature drop of up to 30 degrees from today. According to the National Weather Service, it will drop below freezing through Tuesday, so protect those plants which might be affected.

This morning Alpine County hosts its annual fisheries review. The review is 9 a.m. to noon at Turtle Rock Park and lots of folks involved in making Alpine County the mecca for anglers that it is turn out to talk.

Nevada's first woman representative in Congress Barbara Vucanovich and longtime former Speaker of the Assembly Joe Dini have joined forces to oppose the Nevada State Education Association's initiative petition to force the state to increase revenue by increasing gaming taxes. Both have joined Nevadans Against the Tax Grab and are encouraging voters not to sign the teachers' union petition.
