Weekly update on former Douglas High standouts

Shawn Estes, P, Portland Beavers (Padres AAA): Estes struck out seven and walked one in five innings of work against Colorado Springs to pick up a win. He followed that up with four strikeouts and one walk in a loss to Salt Lake City.


Bryan Miller, sr., OF, Troy University: Miller moved into the team lead in batting average over the weekend, upping his season clip to .339. He has 19 doubles, a triple and four home runs on the year to go with 29 RBIs. Troy is 23-17 overall and 11-6 in Sun Belt Conference play.


Chris Honer, jr., P, Point Loma: Honer improved to 6-5 on the year with an eight-inning outing against Vanguard during which he gave up three earned runs on seven hits.


Phil Mannelly, fr., IF, Feather River: Feather River swept a series from Redwoods over the weekend to improve to 23-15 overall and 19-2 in Golden Valley Conference play. Mannelly is batting .456 with four doubles, four triples, a home run and 27 RBIs. He has also stolen 10 bases.


Cory Eilers, fr., DH, Feather River: Eilers is batting .262 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.


Roman Davis, Rfr., C, Feather River: Davis is batting .250 in 12 games played with two RBIs. He also sports a perfect fielding percentage at the plate an no base runners have attempted to steal against him this season.


Niko Saladis, fr., RF, Feather River: Saladis has started 30 games for the Golden Eagles and is batting .288 with two doubles, two triples, 17 RBIs, 17 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.


Ryan Laing, fr., 1B, Pratt College (Kansas): Pratt is 9-19 in conference play and 16-28 overall.


Chris Balcom-Miller, fr., P/IF, West Valley College: Balcom-Miller has started 22 games for the Vikings and has nine RBIs. As a pitcher, he has 23 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched. West Valley is 21-5 overall and 13-1 in Coast South Conference play.

Kristy Olsen, sr., 3B/OF, Iowa State: While the Cyclones dropped a series to national No. 8 Oklahoma over the weekend, Olsen went 2-for-6 with an RBI. She is batting leadoff for Iowa State this year and is batting .236 with 10 stolen bases.


Brittany Puzey, jr., OF, Nevada: Nevada swept a three-game series from national No. 16 Hawaii over the weekend. Puzey went 5-for-10 with five runs scored and two RBIs.


Kayla Dunn, jr., P/IF, Utah State: Dunn is leading the team with a .361 average. She has seven doubles, three home runs and 15 RBIs.

Ryan Bertucci, soph., Chico State: Took third in the high jump at the Woody Wilson Invitational at UC Davis with a jump of 6-6.75.
