Here's a shock. We're under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Not a good day to drive the Winnebago through Washoe Valley unless you'd like to go for one heck of a ride. The National Weather Service says the winds will be 10-20 mph increasing later this morning to 15-30 mph with gusts of 50 mph.
Cooler temperatures have the river dropping back down below 4 feet, well clear of flood stage of 9.5 feet. It's forecast to climb back up to 4.2 feet by Sunday morning. While the snow pack in the mountains is dismal, a cold spring could slow its melting and provide a little better distribution.
It looks like there might be a few flakes falling in the mountains, but there's no sign that a drop of precipitation came down in the Valley. The winds were howling last night. Snow tires or chains are being required across Highway 88 and the Mt. Rose Highway. There's some construction on Highway 50, but that's about it.
