A blood drive is 1-7 p.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 891 Mahogany Drive across from Douglas High School.
The blood drive was organized by Douglas High School senior Nick Hales as his Eagle Scout project.
Hales chose to hold a blood drive because "a blood drive will do the most good for the most people in a short time frame."
"I'm excited to hold this blood drive because many people don't know how universal the need is for blood, or how easy it is to donate," Hales said.
The goal is to have 40 units of blood donated. A unit of blood can be separated into individual components and used to help multiple people. It is estimated that 60 percent of people will need blood during their lives.
To schedule a donation, call Hales at 450-6982. Walk-ins are welcome.
