The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company will audition for Rodgers and Hammerstein's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, "South Pacific," 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Sarah Winnemucca Hall at the Carson City campus of Western Nevada College.
The show will play at the Carson City Community Center in nine performances, Nov. 8-23. "South Pacific" animates two love stories set in the Polynesian Islands during World War II with a classic score including "There is Nothing Like a Dame," "Some Enchanted Evening" and "Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair."
The production calls for multiple featured leads, a dance troupe and a chorus. Auditioners should come prepared to sing a song under one minute long and may bring a taped accompaniment or provide the accompanist with a musical score.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is a regional theater company operated through the performing arts program at WNC. Previous productions have drawn as many as 6,000 people. Shows play in a 700-seat theater and are accompanied by a live orchestra. Stephanie Arrigotti is producer and director, Gina Kaskie-Davis is choreographer.
Everyone accepted in the cast must register to participate in the productions. All credit students will receive a scholarship to defray half their tuition. The course applies to an associate of arts degree with an emphasis in musical theater. Information, (775)445-4249.
