Reward up to $33,500 in murder case

Almost six months after Ben Oxley was shot to death in his sleep, Secret Witness is offering up to $33,500 for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the 36-year-old Johnson Lane man's murder.

Douglas County Sheriff's Lead Investigator Ron Elges said Thursday the case remains active.

"We are 100 percent going forward," Elges said. "I work every day on it to some degree. We will do everything we can until there is nothing left to do and, hopefully, something will break."

Oxley was murdered Feb. 21 at his home at 2800 Wildhorse Lane. Deputies arrived at 3:30 a.m. and found the air conditioning specialist dead of a shotgun wound to the head. His wife and 6-year-old daughter were at the residence as well as his wife's 15-year-old brother who was living with the family.

Elges estimated at least 90 people have been interviewed since the shooting.

"We've interviewed a lot of people, sometimes multiple times. That includes family, friends, acquaintances, associates, work colleagues," Elges said. "I stay in contact with everybody in the case " his widow, and other family members."

Elges said donations have come from community members who want to be anonymous and see the case resolved.

"We hope someone will come forward and talk to me. Any lead " large or small " whatever they think, I will be happy to listen."

More than 400 people attended a memorial service March 7 at Carson Valley Christian Center where Oxley was eulogized as a devoted father and husband.
