A funeral service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville for Carl Schaich who died Aug. 7, 2008, at his Minden residence. He was 84.
Mr. Schaich was born May 19, 1924, in Chicago. He lived in Visalia, Calif., prior to moving to Minden seven years ago.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
He and his wife Blanche were married May 1, 1948.
Mr. Schaich worked for Lockheed for 24 years. For 20 years, he operated the Clock Haven, repairing and selling clocks. After retiring from the clock business, Mr. Schaich moved to a ranch in Visalia, Calif., where he grew plums for 17 years.
Mr. Schaich was a member of the Masons for 30 years and joined local Lodge No. 33. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Gardnerville post of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Blanche, of Minden; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Mary Schaich and daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Michael Wendling and Bonnie and David Cauton, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service is set for 3 p.m. at Eastside Memorial Park following the reception at the Methodist church.
Donations in Mr. Schaich's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
