Douglas County schools are facing $1.36 million in budget cuts for 2009 as a result of state budget reductions. School board trustees will discuss the budget cuts and their effects at their regular meeting starting 3:30 p.m. today at Douglas High School. The budget session is scheduled to start at 6:05 p.m.

Planning commissioners meet at 9 a.m. for what could be a two-day master plan marathon. This morning commissioners will hear an update of the plan and a request for increased density by Big George Ventures in their north county Georgetown project. The big guns show up after 1 p.m. when Park Cattle's presentation begins. They are seeking between 4,400 and 4,900 homes on property north of Minden and Gardnerville.
