The historic value of Carson Valley barns and other agricultural structures was recognized with a proclamation at the Aug. 7 meeting of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.

A reception was held later at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center where plaques were presented to the 28 barn owners that chose to participate in the Carson Valley Historic Barn program. Refreshments were supplied by Harrah's/Harveys Casino.

Sponsors of the program are Douglas County Historical Society, Western Nevada Resource Conservation & Development Council, Natural Resource Conservation Service and the U.S. Forest Service.
