Two new wines named in honor of Nevada's oldest settlement will be released at a party in Genoa on Saturday.
Tahoe Ridge Winery will release new red and white wines named Genoa 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Winery owner Rick Halbardier said the new red wine is a blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The white will be a blend of chardonnay and semillon.
The party will feature a food and wine pairing at the winery's marketplace, 2285 Main St. in Genoa. There is no cost to attend the party.
Bottles of the red and white will be on sale for $10 a bottle. Members of the Tahoe Ridge Wine Club will receive a 20 percent discount.
Tahoe Ridge, which was established in 1991, was honored by Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn in 2004 at the annual Governor's Industry Appreciation Awards program.
The winery won the award for expansion for opening its Tahoe Ridge Wine Tasting and Gourmet Gift Shop in Genoa in October 2003 and for plans to build Tahoe Ridge Winery and Marketplace at the historic Van Sickle Station Ranch in Carson Valley.
In 2005, the winery became the first to commercially crush grapes in the state.
