Rosebud and Pops in Heritage Park tonight

The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park presents the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra entertaining with show tunes before the classic movie, "Citizen Kane." The movie begins at dusk today in Heritage Park, a block east of Highway 395 off Gilman.

The last movie of the summer is Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" on Sept. 5. Information, www.gardnerville-nv.gov.

Acoustic jam at Eddy Street

Book Exchange

Local musicians are invited for an acoustic jam, 2:30 - 5 p.m. Aug. 24, at the Eddy Street Book Exchange. Musicians of any acoustic instrument of any level of experience or those who don't play but want to sing along are welcome. Minden

Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Shake, Rattle & Roll appears through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Shake, Rattle & Roll recreates classic rock 'n' roll of the '50s, '60s and '70s performed live without the aid of computers and tapes. The band features Lee Bellinger on lead vocals, Andy Highhouse on guitar, Michael Tucker on bass and vocals, Warren Purcell on drums and Bill Crane on keyboards and vocals.

Hindsight takes the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and plays until Aug. 24. Northern Nevada band Hindsight plays a variety of rhythm and blues, classic rock 'n' roll and pop music. The group is lead by keyboardist and sax virtuoso Larry Waller, features Adina Pearl on vocals, Terry Caldwell on guitar, Leonardo Fields on bass and Derrick Autry on drums.

Tractor show

this weekend

The 13th annual antique tractor show begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Events include tractor parades, pulls, displays, a raffle for a Farmall Model A tractor restored to original condition and vendors selling tractor parts, T-shirts and caps. Admission is $5, children 12 and younger are free. The tractor show is at the corner of Heybourne Road and Stephanie Way. Information, Bill Ramsden, 267-4816.

Country Valley Jug Stompers play old-time country and blues and Japanese jug songs at the Minden farmers market, 4-7:30 p.m. Aug. 19.


Comedy Night Live returns

Comedians Karen Rontowski and Adam Stone join host and producer Kat Simmons for a Comedy Night Live triple-header at the Carson Valley Inn on Aug. 22.

for 'Hanging Tree'

Tickets are on sale for the "Curse of the Hanging Tree" at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395 in Gardnerville and the Genoa Court House Museum.

Performances are 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23 in downtown Genoa.

Tickets are $15 per person. Advanced tickets are recommended. To order by credit card, call 782-2555. There is an additional $1 charge for postage and handling.
