A forest fire burning near the Sonora Pass Junction between Walker and Bridgeport has doubled in size to 400 acres.
A forecast red-flag warning has firefighters working to slow the fire down before winds pick up this afternoon.
Helen Frazier, spokeswoman for the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch said 200 people, three air tankers and three helicopters were battling the blaze.
"Firefighters are actively trying to knock down the fire before the wind event occurs," she said.
Sonora Pass Road is open, but controls are in place from the junction with Highway 395 to Kennedy Meadows.
The fire is burning about five miles northwest of the intersection of Highway 395. It was caused by a lightning strike at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
A voluntary evacauation of the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center at Pickely Meadows took place Sunday evening.
