We'll be getting a little bit of smoke from the Silver Creek fire today, though most of it will pass south of us. The fire is still being reported at 400 acres, but the winds are driving it and it's crowning the trees and spotting. Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch spokeswoman Helen Frazier reports extreme fire behavior due to the winds. The management team will be upgraded today to a type 2. There is no estimate for containment.

A 20-year-old Ruhenstroth man, accused of coercing a 13-year-old girl into having sex is up for sentencing today in Douglas County District Court. Matthew Derek Lebo pleaded guilty to the charge in June. He faces six years in prison and an up to $5,000 fine.

It's windy this morning, which won't help firefighters any, but will cool things down a bit. Today's high is predicted to be 82 degrees under mostly sunny skies. It will warm back up to the 90s on Friday.
